Undaunted Optimism

A story was told of a man who sent two of his top salesmen to a remote town to sell the company’s shoes. To the horror of the two salesmen, they found out that no one in that town wore any shoes, they were all barefooted.

The first salesman came back to his boss and lamented: “Why did you send me there, no one will need any shoes there.” Meanwhile, the second salesman came back beaming: “Boss, please prepare 1000 pairs of shoes, they will buy our shoes.”

The difference between these two salesmen is that one is pessimistic while the other is exceedingly optimistic and positive. They were both posed with the same difficulty, one saw defeat and hopelessness and the other saw boundless opportunities.
