No Mood

Yesterday, I popped by my parents place. Mickey was not in a good mood. He even refused the chicken that I offered him. It was unusual. One of the reasons of his moodiness could be because he was looking for my father. My father left home early yesterday morning to attend to some matters and when he left the house Mickey was not awake then. Mickey has won over our hearts. He is such a blessing to us.

His Wonder Working Power

The Lord is the one who opens doors of ministry for us. He shows us His heart when we avail ourselves to Him without reservation. As a channel of His divine love, we become the extension of the hand of God to touch people around us.

Monte (my husband) and I have the wonderful privilege to reach out to different people that the Lord brought into our paths. We have reached out to terminally ill people. We are challenged to see terminally ill Christians who fight their way through the raging battle. Armed with added strength from the Lord they battle their physical ailments against all odds. Physically their bodies may be weakened and ravaged by disease but their spiritual health is intact because their eyes are on Jesus. The wonder working power of God is at work. Though some of these people have gone home to be with the Lord, their testimonies lived long after them to reveal God’s love and faithfulness.

Deeply Appreciated

I thank God for the opportunity to be a voice trainer. I am privileged to meet people from all walks of life who range from the age of 12 up to aged 70.

I had a great time at my last vocal training with Cornerstone Community Church which ended on 30 April 2009.. I was greatly encouraged by the joy and enthusiasm of my brothers and sisters there.

The testimonials from my past trainees and workshop attendees bring me tremendous encouragement and motivation. I continue to trust and look to the Lord for He is the one who gives me the strength, grace and ability. He spurs me on to give my best and has blessed me beyond my wildest imagination.

The following are some testimonials that I deeply appreciated because these people have taken time from their busy schedule to drop me these words:

“After the vocal training, I am now more confident in singing, at least I dare to sing louder then before and with more expression. Thanks for teaching us the techniques of singing.

May God continue to bless you and your work.”

Rosie Lee

"I begin to enjoy singing with a louder voice. Thank you Sister Jee Fong."

Paul Png

"We have definitely learnt a lot through this course. It has helped us to project our voice better and we have also discovered many new insights. We will surely look forward to attend such courses in the future. Cheers to you our coach!!"

Janet Koh

"A committed and dedicated teacher to her craft, Jee Fong believes that everyone has a singing voice that just needs the correct techniques to bring it out. I thoroughly enjoyed the training sessions with her and gained a better understanding on how to "stretch " my vocal range."

Michelle Chau

"Indeed I feel that the training is fruitful and useful to me. Sis Jee Fong has made it so interesting and practical that I can put into practice right away. After attending the training, it has given me more confidence in delivering the songs and I am able to express better. Thank u Sis Jee Fong. Hereby, I would like to give thanks and praise to the Lord for giving me the opportunity to attend this training. God bless one and all!"

Cheralyn Lim

"I can feel the passion that Jee Fong has in wanting to impart all the knowledge that she has to the participants that comes to her class. Personally, her desire to make sure that her participants understood and grasped what she was teaching touched me the most"

Lilian Lee

"Hi! Your vocal training has helped me in singing properly and with confidence. I will continue to use the techniques to improve on my weak areas. I used to have sore throat after two hours of singing. I have learnt that I have exerted on the wrong muscle and lack warm up. Now with proper practice and knowledge of taking care of my vocal cord. I am able to speak properly after 2 hours of singing. I must thank Jee Fong for her Marvellous GIFT in Vocal Training."

Hong Demei

"It is most liberating to be able to sing with confidence without getting hoarse or worse, a sore throat. Now I can worship with greater joy!"

Frances Goh

"My greatest achievement is knowing Christ. And that He loves me and you."

Goh Hong Eng

"After several meetings, I can sing loudly and confidently. It is an enjoyable experience to work with you."

Clifford Mario

"Jee Fong's classes enabled me to learn how to use my voice better and to realise that good speech not only included using one's voice correctly but that it was necessary to have the right posture and use correct breathing techniques as well. Jee Fong's personality is also warm and engaging which made the personalised classes all that more enriching to attend."

Bhawani

"I've attended the voice training sessions with hopes of improving my foundational techniques and I have improved since. Now when i sing for longer periods of time, my voice does not feel the strain and tiredness. Praise God!"

Vincent Kwok

"It was an eye opener for me. I was not aware of the intricate details of maintaining vocal quality. A great help for me, as a trainer."

Selvarajoo Vadivelu

"Thank you for coaching us in vocal and singing techniques. It had been a fun time. We found the sessions refreshing, enjoyable and relaxing as we are comfortable with you. You have been very helpful and patient. May the Lord bless and extend this area of your passion and ministry for His glory."

Cat Lover

Monte (my husband) loves cats. It is more accurate to say that he is crazy about cats. As for me, up till today, you will find me fleeing when a cat comes near.

Last Saturday morning, while we were at Changi Village, we were surprised to find a group of cats near a bus stop. Nine cats to be exact. They were adorable. Monte had so much fun playing with them. Cats are by and large very affectionate and warm, but once in a while we run into cats that are moody and prefer to be left alone.

Dream Builder

God is a dream builder. When we turn our lives over to His Lordship, He begins His work in restoring and building our dreams.

Dreams are birthed by the power of God's Spirit. In His mercy, God births His dreams in our hearts.

The Hope of glory, the Rock of Ages steps into our broken lives and gives us meaning and purpose to live. He gives us new perspective and crystal clear vision. He opens our eyes to His wonders.

Our hearts flood with exuberant praise and adoration for Him. The dream builder breathes life into our being. He plunges us deeper into His grace. We see His glory in ever increasing intensity and depth. As we journey with our Maker, we experience life in the power of His Spirit.

Lord, we want to see You high and lifted up. Help us to rise up with new strength. We want to soar with eagle's wings. We want to lean on Your strong and mighty arms. We want to see Your glory and Your grace.

Sweet Surprise

From 5 Feb to 30 March 2009, I had the privilege to conduct speech and drama training to some amazing eight year girls for two classes in the Bukit Timah Area. I was in training with them on weekly class. The girls were very infectious and eager to learn. I was encouraged by their enthusiasm.

On the final session, I saw a girl who on the verge of tears because that was my last class with them. I knew that I would miss them as much as they would miss me. Children have a way to warm our hearts.

At the end of my time with one of the classes, the form teacher who had been sitting in in most of my training sessions gathered the children together and led them in a cheer in appreciation of me. I was speechless. I was so touched by the kind and encouraging gesture of that teacher. It certainly was a sweet surprise.

Bring Them Back

I thank God for song writers that God uses, they write songs that help bring us into the Lord's presence in our times of praise and worship.

In recent years, I have difficulties learning some new worship choruses. One of the reasons might be because they are difficult to learn. Some may have weak melodies while others may be too wordy.

We need sold congregational songs that help us to pour our hearts out to the Lord. We need songs that enable us to enter into the holy of holies. The sad fact is that some song writers today may be trapped in the money making thing. They write songs that the market wants. The lure of money and fame may be an issue here.

I pray that God will touch the hearts of Christian song writers to produce songs from the throne room of God; songs from the heart of God and songs that are birthed by the Spirit. God will use His songs to touch and transform us increasingly. Lord, bring Your songs back to our churches, Your heavenly songs and melodies that we may glorify You and proclaim Your greatness.

Muffins from the Heart

In the course of my enrichment training in schools since 2006, I have the privilege to develop friendships with many amazing fellow trainers. I am enriched by their lives and experiences. Recently, one of them shared with me about an incident in a primary school. She was training some poor children and she was shocked to learn that some of them had never tasted a muffin. Or rather, some do not know what muffins were. She determined in her heart that she would buy some for them to eat. When this trainer related the whole incident to me, my heart not only went out to these poor children but also for the heart of people of this dear lady. The muffins came from her heart.

I Need You More

We need You more with each passing moment. We need You increasingly. We need You perpetually. We need You desperately.

Show us Your mercy. Show us Your grace. Had it not been for Your loving kindness, we would have despaired.

Our breath is full of Your love. Every breath is full of Your mercy. Every breath is full of Your grace.

I Need You More

I need You more
More than yesterday
I need You more
More than words can say
I need You more
Than ever before
I need You, Lord
I need You, Lord

More than the air I breathe
More than the song I sing
More than the next heartbeat
More than anything
And Lord, as time goes by
I'll be by Your side
'Cause I never want to go back to my old life

I need You more
More than yesterday
I need You more
More than words can say
I need You more
Than ever before
I need You, Lord
I need You, Lord

Four Short Days

For four days last month, I made a trip with my parents to Genting Highlands in Malaysia. We had a wonderful time. The breathtaking view was absolutely amazing. My elderly parents had a relaxed time there and we ate and rested so well.

Upon arrival back in Singapore, Monte (my husband) and I were both sharing that it was difficult to be apart from each other though it was only for a short four days, it seemed like a long time of separation. One day, our life on earth will end, either I will leave before Monte or the other way round. For sure, it will be very difficult for either of us because we have grown so close to each other over the years.

Vocal Training at Cornerstone Community Church

I thank God for the opportunity to conduct vocal training at Cornerstone Community Church last month. I do not take training opportunities likely for the simple reason that there are many vocal coaches around but the opportunity was given to me.

One of greatest joy in vocal training is to see people improving and growing. Learning is a lifelong process that we embark on. As I look back to my past training, all I see is the enablement and grace of the Lord.

Running Over

The blessings of the Lord is on His children. When the Lord blesses us, He does not merely fill us up to the brim, He continues to bless us till we overflow. His blessings run over, He blesses us and beyond. It is extended to our children, our parents, our siblings, our nieces and nephews and beyond. The heart of God reaches out to touch His own. He promised to bless our children’s children. He picked up from the miry clay, rescue and restore us and bestow His blessing on us although we do not deserve anything. For He first loved us.

Seeing Things from a Different Angle

We are all different and we see things differently. Looking at the picture in this post, some of us may see the young lady while others may see the elderly woman. One of the many lessons we can glean from this is that it is helpful to be open to the views and opinions of others because we often see things from different angles. Not only can we learn from others, we are reminded that they might be more than one-way to get things done. Our way may not be the only right one.

In the body of Christ, the Lord desires unity and love to permeate from the leadership right down to every member in the church. In our desire to build the church, we exercise tolerance and openness to hear and understand diverse views and contributions. Pride and arrogance will hinder the work of God but brotherly love, submission and openness make room for the Lord to work in and through us.

Playing Second Fiddle

Not everyone gets to lead all the time. Sometimes the Lord puts us in a place where we may not be in the heat of things. It may be a support role.

Seemingly, people may not see or hear us but the Lord never fails to honour our faithfulness.

One time I learnt of a Christian who was so happy to be given the opportunity to serve God by washing plastic communion cups.

The beauty of such an act of loving service radiate far and wide.

It is not the bigness or grandness of our ministry that touches the heart of God.  Our loving submission and faithfulness speak volume.

As Close As the Mention of His Name

God is not a figment of our imagination. He is alive. He is not made of gold, silver or wood. He is the everliving God.

He hears us. He walks with us. He is with us. He journeys with us through our joy and sorrow. He is our only hope. His love never fails.

He is as close as the mention of His name. We feel the gentle nudge of His love.

When we cry out to Him, He hears us. Our deliverer and helper rescues us. His merciful love prevails.

His name is matchless and wonderful. The name that is above every other name. He deserves our highest praise. We bow in humble adoration. We worship the Lord.

Find Us Faithful

I came to the Lord in 1980. I am thankful to the people whom God graciously put in my life to show me the show.

God uses each of us at one point or another to help a fellow believer. A two-month-old Christian looks up to a two-year-old Christian. We have not arrived but God minister through us as we avail ourselves to Him. May the Lord help us to be faithful in our witness. May the people who come behind us find us faithful as we allow God to shine through us for His glory.

Find Us Faithful

We're pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace

Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who've gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives

Chorus:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful

After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift though all we've left behind
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find

Someone Cares

Last Sunday morning, the Lord opened the door for Monte (my husband) to minister at Touch Hearts Community Church. We thank God for a great time of ministry and fellowship with the people.

Ministry takes place when we touch someone with the love of Jesus. A couple of months ago while dining at Kopitiam near Buangkok MRT station. We were sharing our table with a Taiwanese lady who married a Singaporean. She was still adjusting to life in Singapore. We learnt that she was staying near us. We chatted for some time and parted ways.

A month or so later, we invited her to our home. She came and we were glad to see her again. A friendship started. She blessed us with a beautiful candle shown in this posting.

The Lord brings people into our paths and He prompts us to avail ourselves to minister. Before we came to the Lord, someone shared the love of Jesus with us. We are where we are today because someone cares.

His Masterpiece

God patiently works on our rough edges. The most refined people on earth will still need to work on different areas on our lives. For some of us, there are bad habits that we have to kick, at other instances; God may be speaking to us about some attitudes that we must change. No one is perfect, the loving hand continue to mould and make us to be what He wants us to be. He wants to present us as His masterpiece; every child of God can shine for the Master when we reflect the light of Jesus.

Travelling Light

We must travel light, especially so in our journey with the Lord. Excess baggage may be worry, insecurities, hatred, anger, rebellion, strife, bitterness. The list goes on. The unnecessary excess baggage does not merely slow us down, it also adds extra burden on this already arduous journey of life. We are not meant to lug them around wherever we go, the Lord wants us to lay our burdens at His feet. He wants us to taste true liberty when we fully submit our life into His loving hands; when we give Him total control so that the life and light of His glory can shine brilliantly through us.

No Other Name

There is no other Name like the name of Jesus. The most glorious and beautiful this world has ever heard. His name is above all other names, His matchless and wonderful name that gives meaning to the reason for our existence. The name that brought peace and hope to a dying generation. We live to declare His great and magnificent name. To Him be glory honour, praise and power.

No Other Name

Above His name, there is no other name
The one who is eternally the same
There is no other name
The first and last
Beginning and the end
He was the king who made the common man His friend
There is no other name
Let every tongue proclaim and sing the name of
Jesus
Magnify and praise the name of Jesus
No other name but Jesus
There's power in the precious name of Jesus
Jesus
Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords
Jesus

He created all that is with His own hands
And yet the smallest need He understands
There is no other name
The one who said "I am the great I Am
And then He gave Himself the sacrifice for man
There is no other name
Let every tongue proclaim and sing the name of
Jesus
Magnify and praise the name of Jesus
No other name but Jesus
There's power in the precious name of Jesus
Jesus
Forever He shall reign as King of kings
Lord of all and every living thing
From now on we'll worship Him
And praise the name of
Praise the name of
Magnify and praise the name of Jesus
Let's magnify and praise the name of Jesus
No other name but Jesus
There's power in the precious name of Jesus
Jesus
Forever He shall reign as King of kings
Lord of all and every living thing
From now on we'll worship Him
And praise the name of Jesus
Jesus
Magnify and praise of name of Jesus

ISOW - Worship Encounter

Last Saturday, I was blessed to be able attend ISOW (International School of Worship) – Worship Encounter at Marine Parade Christian Centre. It was my third time there. Thank God for the ministry of Brendon and Cathie Clancy. They are a gifted and humble couple.

All throughout the day, what kept coming back to me was not skills, techniques or methodologies. Rather the most important areas are humility, love, team spirit, openness, joyful service, the fruit of the Spirit and even in the area of how worship leaders and team members can help support the pastor. In the nutshell, the sessions were practical. relevant and challenging.

May the Lord continue to bless Brendon and Cathie’s ministry.

Fleeting Life

In the mid 80’s, I was a childcare assistant teacher for about two years. Part of my time was spent at the Kindergarten that was linked to the childcare business. I was supporting a teacher there, a lady in her mid forties. At one point, she fell sick and not long after that she suddenly passed on. She left behind her loving husband and teenage children.

Life is fleeting. We are here today and gone tomorrow. When we look at the life that God gave us, our respond is total abandonment to His will and purpose. We are made to praise and glorify Him. As we give our self to Him in total submission, He brings out the best in us. We are on earth to fulfill our own selfish ambition, we want to trust and obey Him each moment of the day. We want to feel His heartbeat and abide in His glorious presence. We want to follow hard after Him till we reach the end of our journey.

So Adorable

Yesterday morning, before church, we had breakfast at a coffee shop. Along came a man with his cute little dog. I approached him to ask if I could snap a shot of his dog and he agreed. The dog was wearing shoes. It walked so comfortable in those cute little shoes. It was so adorable.

Faithful and True

On Sunday evening, 15 March 2009, Monte (my husband) and I wanted to take some time to pray. We headed to Changi Village. After dinner, we went to the beach, laid down a plastic sheet and spent some time praying there. The beauty that we saw before our eyes that lovely evening captivated our hearts.

We can testify to His faithfulness. The Lord’s hand of love covers, leads and protects us. As our prayer ascends to Him, He reaches out to touch us. He is ever faithful and true.

True Till The End

Today marks the ten years of our marriage. The Lord has blessed me with Monte. The past ten years are the best years of my life. Jesus is the third person in our marriage. He binds us together as one. After living together for ten years, we are still discovering and learning more of each other. Just like pursuing God, we'll never stop discovering and knowing more of Him.

On 28 February 2008, we were invited to my uncle James and his wife, Sandra's 25th wedding anniversary. Uncles James is my mother's younger brother. It was a memorable and heart-warming occasion. Monte had the honour to say a few words at the dinner. In his short speech, he commended uncle James and auntie Sandra for their love, loyalty and faithfulness to each other. Twenty-five years of marriage bringing along with them three wonderful and loving sons; they continue to honour and love each other.

The marriage vow that a man and a woman take is not momentary. It is sacred and binding for God has instituted marriage. Nothing should break this holy union; no sickness, no financial difficulties or any conceivable reason should cause anyone to consider the option of taking a U- turn. In good or bad times, in joy or sorrow, whether we be rich or poor, the vow has to be honoured and upheld. By God's divine grace, we strive to reach the end and stay true to one other. God is the one who builds strong and beautiful marriages. A God fearing and loving couple shines powerfully and magnificently for the glory of His great name.

What Preoccupies Us Consumes Us

As we get to know the Lord more intimately, His abiding presence encapsulates us. What preoccupies us will consume us. As we meditate on Him, we become more like Him. The character of Christ rubs onto us so to speak. Our every waking moment is devoted to all that He desires to do in and through us. We become more sensitive to the voice of His spirit. Beyond our resources, talents or time; He wants our hearts. He wants to commune with us. He wants us to come away to the secret chambers so that He can pour His heart out to us. What an awesome privilege for you and I, common people to be able to come into the King’s chambers to hear His heart. This is enough to overwhelm us because He sought us out while we were yet sinners. He put His robe of righteousness on us and gave us hope and meaning to live. He cleansed our sins so that the enemy of our soul has no power over us. We give Him all the glory, honour and praise.

Never Stop Learning

I enjoy vocal coaching. Thank God for every workshop participant and trainee that He had brought into my path. I have trained people as young as 12 up till the age of 70. These people are from all walks of life, coming from diverse backgrounds. I continue to learn, grow and develop in what God has put into my hands. Like all field of work, I will never stop learning new things because there is so much untapped resources and information available out there. When I am training, I do not think of it as work because I enjoy what I do. Every training session is different because every trainee is different. That is reason why it is so interesting.

The Litmus Test

In our journey with the Lord, He grows our faith. The storms of life may hit us physically but the Lord sustains us mercifully. As long as we focus on the Lord, we are on good ground.

The litmus test of a believer is how he or she responds in a crisis. The determination to pursue God will never be hindered by any circumstance. The strength of God's Spirit is upon all who call on the name of the Lord.

We emerged stronger because God sees us through the fire. He is with us in the raging sea. He is as close as the mention of His name. As we cry out to God, He reaches out to rescue and restore us.

The Lord is our mighty fortress. He is our mighty deliverer. He speaks courage and hope to us in our distress. He leads us on lovingly. When there seems to be no way, the Lord makes a way. He is the Waymaker. He is a miracle working God.

Just Bewildering

Last Friday morning, I brought Mickey out for a walk. Upon reaching the ground level, to my horror, his leash came apart. He started running and I chased him. Meanwhile I got my father to come down. Both of us started to chase after the dog. He was having such a wonderful time and there my father and I were worried sick. He came so close to a road that was quite heavy with traffic. We were so relieved when we finally caught up with him and my father tried to carry him. In a split second, he bit my father's thumb. The bite was quite deep and my father bled profusely. Thank God that the bleeding stopped in about three to five minutes.

It is bewildering, my father is the one who feeds and cleans Mickey daily. He doted on him. Why does Mickey bite him? My father asked Mickey the same question when we went back to the house. Mickey just gazed innocently at my father.

Never The Same

Monte (my husband) and I have gone to Lower Pierce Reservoir umpteenth time. A few evenings ago, we went there again. It is amazing that I never get tired of taking photos because they always turn out so beautiful. Oftentimes, we do not realise the beauty around us if we do not take a moment to soak them in. It is the same reservoir but the sceneries and surroundings take on a different outfit every time so the photos are never the same.

Thank you, Lord, for allowing us to enjoy the glorious beauty of Your creation. You are magnificent and awesome. All creation worships You.
