God And God Alone

Nothing that we have came to us because of our own ability or capability. God is the ultimate owner of everything that we possess. The litmus test of stewardship is evident when we willingly respond in giving when the Lord speaks to us. I am reminded of the Macedonians who gave generously out of the heart of love. They understood the essence of true giving. Their lives radiated with the glory of God as they lived for God and God alone.

God And God Alone

God and God alone
Created all these things we call our own
From the mighty to the small
The Glory in them all Is God's and God's alone

God and God alone
Is fit to take the universe's throne
Let everything that lives
Reserve it's truest praise
For God and God alone

God and God alone
Reveals the truth of all we call unknown
And the best and worst of man
Won’t change the Master's plan
It's God's and God's alone

God and God alone
Will be the joy of our eternal home
He will be our one desire
Our hearts will never tire
Of God's and God's alone

Breathtaking Views

Last Sunday evening, Monte (husband) and I headed towards Telok Blangah area and walked all the way up to Mount Faber Park. On reaching Mount Faber Park, my heart was pounding so hard but I felt rejuvenated and refreshed. We went on the Southern Ridges which is made up of 9-kilometre chain of green and open spaces from the beautiful Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park and finally ending at West Coast Park. We must have walked for close to two hours. We surely had a good work-out.

Master Designer

God is the master Designer. Take a look at the many functions of the human body. The lymphatic system, the muscular system. The cardiovascular system. The bone structure. How our eyes see. How our ears hear. How blood carries oxygen throughout the body.

The human body detoxifies itself when we are in deep sleep.

Noise is completely shut out when we fall asleep. We are then able to rest completely and soundly.

When we look at the human body, we see the glory of God. God's creativity and ingenuity inspires us. We marvel at the work of His hands. How great and awesome is our Maker!

Goodbye Mickey!

Last Friday, after my oral communication training session at a primary school in Victoria Street, I dropped by my parent's place. I did not get to walk Mickey as it was raining. When it was time to leave, as usual, Mickey would see me off at the gate. Mickey had a sad look on his face. He would be so happy if I could stay a little longer.

So Precious

Life is so precious. Everyday is a gift from God. We awake with hope and assurance in the faithfulness of God's tender mercy and loving kindness. Our hearts burn with fresh fire as we come before our almighty God in wholehearted worship and devotion.

Right as I am entering this post, I am well aware that people are taking their lives. They have come to the end of themselves. They see no way out and they just cannot bring themselves to face the insurmountable problems in their lives. They just want to die. What a suicidal person needs may just be a listening ear and someone who allow him or her to pour out the pent-up emotions.

As we go about our daily lives, we pray for the Lord to sensitize our hearts to people who are crying out for help. All the Lord needs is a willing heart to reach out to people.

Enjoying Work

From March to May this year, I was giving weekly speech-training programme to a primary one class at a school in Sengkang. Recently, I found out from the enrichment company that some parents called up the school to say that their children enjoyed the programme tremendously and they asked for more of such programmes to be conducted. This news is an encouragement to me. Ever since, I have embarked on this line of work alongside my vocal training, I have grown to enjoy my work and the students that I get to mingle with. Children reciprocate naturally when we show care and concern to them. As I continue to train, I continue to learn and grow.

Via Dolorosa

Jesus made the hardest and longest journey when He was led to be hung on the cross for you and I. He bore our sins on the cross of Calvary. The inexpressible pain, anguish and agony cannot be put into words. His crimson blood was shed because He loved us so deeply. We do not deserve all that Jesus suffered on our behalf. As we remember the greatest act of love the world has ever known, our hearts are overwhelmed by a merciful and loving Saviour.

Via Dolorosa
Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The man condemned to die on calvary

He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon his back
And he wore a crown of thorns upon his head
And he bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for his death.

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way through the heart of Jerusalem.

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of his love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

A Pure Heart

The psalmist David submitted himself fully to God. When his sin was exposed, he did not attempt to defend himself. He made no excuse for his wrongdoings. He went before God and repented. The contriteness of his heart and spirit drew him closer to God. He was pliable in the hand of the living God. God restored and renewed David and gave him hope.

A Pure Heart

A pure heart that’s what I long for
A heart that follows hard after Thee
A pure heart that’s what I long for
A heart that follows hard after Thee

A heart that hides Your Word
So that sin will not come in
A heart that’s undivided
But one You rule and reign
A heart that beats compassion
That pleases You my Lord
A sweet aroma of worship
That rises to Your throne

Honey In The Rock

Lord, You are like honey in the rock. You get sweeter and sweeter as the days go by.

The longer we know You, the more we love You. You first loved us. You love us with an everlasting love.

We should have been condemned in our sin and degradation. Your merciful power sets us free to taste Your love and goodness.

You pour Your compassion and love on us lavishly. You made us whole. You give us purpose and meaning to live.

We enjoy every minute in the land of milk and honey. Honey that never runs out. Honey in the rock.

Amazing Grace

There is no higher calling than the call to worship the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Someone once said that we owe a debt that we cannot pay and He paid a debt that He did not owe. He gave of Himself to us with no reservation. As we reflect on His goodness, our hearts are filled with awe and wonder for His amazing grace. His rich grace that is poured out to those who love Him with all of their hearts; to those who pursue Him wholeheartedly.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers toils and snares
I have already come
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home

When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun

Self Imprisonment

Some christians live in prisons that they have built for themselves. We have no reason to be in prison, We should live as free men. Some of us are imprisoned by our guilt, unforgiveness, hatred, bitterness or even condemnation. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. We have no reason to be bound because Jesus came to set us free. We must never give any foothold to the enemy of our soul for he is determined to inflict maximum damage and harm to us.

We need to call upon the Lord for help, deliverance and sustenance. Only the Lord can rescue and restore us to Himself for we are His prized possession. He wants us to walk in perfect liberty.

Strength For Each New Day

At a church service recently, a brother who was involved with relief work in Myanmar shared on how God opened the door for them to reach the victims left after the devastating cyclone. Revival broke out as people were coming to the Lord.

The Myanmar Christians face a daunting task in front of them but the Lord promised to sustain and empower His people. He gives strength and hope to them in their hour of need. He is the only hope for their tomorrow. The Lord gives strength for each new day.
