Miracle Working God

In August, we received word from the Society of Pentecostal Studies thatMonte's paper has been accepted for the March 2017 Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

As next year’s theme is “Pentecostalism and Culture,” Monte's topic is, “Towards a Pentecostal Conscientizing Praxis of Mass Culture Engagement.” Recognising the role Pentecostalism plays towards shaping culture, he will be suggesting from the wells of pentecostal theology, constructive ways for doing so, in dialogue with Roman Catholic approaches. God willing, this will be his fifth presented paper in six consecutive SPS annual meetings.

We are thankful for the opportunity for Monte to serve through this platform that the Lord had sovereignly opened. On the other hand, we do not have the funds to do this. Over dinner this evening, I told Monte that God is going to provide for the upcoming SPS conference. God has challenged us to believe even when we do not see with our natural eyes. He has performed one miracle after another. He shows us that nothing is impossible for Him. This trip is not possible in the natural but God will do a supernatural work.

We marvel at His greatness and providence. As we step out in faith to believe, the Lord reminds us that all we have to offer Him is our five loaves and two fishes and He will multiply. He has blown our minds so many times that our hearts would leap with joy. We serve a mighty God. He knows no bounds. He is limitless, matchless and awesome. As God begins to work, we see our vulnerability and frailty in the light of His greatness. The Lord is greatly to be praised.

Peace for Our Broken Pieces

We go through life shattering experiences at times. We go through tough times and difficult moments.  

The Lord help us to persevere. The trials and difficulties in life can never pin us down; they only make us stronger. The Lord's sustaining power and grace fill us with courage and hope. 

The Lord gives us peace for our broken pieces. Peace that passes understanding. Through our brokenness, the life and light of Jesus is released and His fragrance spreads far and wide.

He spurs us to persevere in our journey with Him.  He speaks life and wholeness into our mortal beings. He restores and strengthens us from within. 

How precious and priceless is our Father's love. We press in to seek the face of God. This speaks of an intimacy that only those who have spent time with God understand. 

The pure grace of God draws us closer to Him. We long for more of Him in our broken lives. He speaks hope and strength into our hearts.

The Power Of Release

One day, a teacher wanted to teach the children a lesson on forgiveness. She told her students to prepare a bag and some potatoes. For each hurt, unforgiveness or wrongdoing that came to their minds, they will put one potato into the bag. Very soon, the children’s bags filled up very quickly. Everyday they had to carry their bags wherever they went.

As the days went by, the potatoes began to rot. The weight was unbearable for some let alone the stench of rotten potatoes.

Finally the teacher told them the moral behind this activity. The hurts and unforgiveness do not just affect the children, it soon affected the people around them. The root of bitterness has a way to bring destruction to others and ourselves.

Jesus hung on the cross of Calvary to show us one of the most powerful lessons in life. When we release forgiveness, we do not merely free ourselves. The forgiven party feels the power of release. It is the power of God at work in you and I.  In our strength we may not have the ability to release forgiveness but Jesus enables and empowers us to do so.
