My brother's dog, Mickey, is putting up with us for a few years. Monte and I love him a lot. He loves to sleep on the mat on my bedroom floor. A few hours before bedtime, he would already position himself. He moves the mat as close to our bed as he can. He's just adorable.
Since the arrival of my niece, Eliska, last November, the attention is now on Eliska and Mickey is jealous. Sometimes when my father tries to play with Eliska, Mickey will show signs of jealousy. He actually tries to get my father's attention. Mickey is amazing and interesting. It's fun just to watch him. Sometimes, his mind is running at a thousand miles an hour.
Mickey is an amazing dog. He can be fierce at times but he is usually timid. Any unfamiliar sound will set scurrying into his hiding place. When thunder roars, he is paralyzed with unexplainable fear.
A couple of days ago, I visited my parents and it happened to storm. Thunder roared and sure enough, Mickey hid under the massage chair trembling in fear.
I captured Mickey in this picture when I was feeding him. He responded immediately to my command to sit. Food never fails to do the job. He is simply adorable.
Every time I hear the barking sound of my neighbour's dog, Mickey, my brother’s dog, will come to mind.Mickey has grown quite a bit.He is so cuddly and cute. He never fails to put a smile on my face.
“The psychological benefits of owning a canine are well known. A carefully trained animal companion can offer fellowship, unconditional love, and often a friendship as intimate as any human bond. Dogs can also become an integral part of the family. Indeed, most adults, when asked to recall their earliest memories, will usually mention an encounter with their dog.
Canines also assist us during crises by helping to bear our emotional and psychological baggage. This function has important physiological benefits as well. Studies show that owning a dog—or even being near one—lowers human blood pressure and decreases stress levels. Over the long term this can prevent heart disease and lower health care costs, because dog owners make fewer doctor visits. A good-natured dog can also help fight depression and loneliness—one of the reasons they are used extensively to visit nursing homes and hospitals. Considering the benefits, the relatively nominal cost of keeping a dog seems like a wise investment”
Yesterday was one of those days that Mickey had his way. I brought him for a walk as usual and it was time to go home, he refused to move. He sure had his way.
“One of the strongest characteristics of the Shih-Tzu is its personality. The Shih-Tzu is a friendly, non aggressive dog that is a good companion for children and other breeds of dogs. Shih-Tzus are known for their fun-loving play, romping around the apartment or in the country side.
The Shih-Tzu is a people oriented dog, they cherish no more than the love of people. They will sit patiently, remaining still with their eyes gazing intently on your face waiting for you to call them over to be patted. The Shih-Tzu is not a one person dog. Shih-Tzus are happy to entertain any stranger, once accepted by the family. This is one reason that they are becoming popular. They make friends where ever they go.
The Shih-Tzu has a lap dog personality. It is not high strung nor demanding. The pet Shih-Tzu is content during the day to lie in a corner with his legs stretched out behind him, snoring softly. If he has a choice he would prefer to be curled up in your lap.”
I will leave you the pictures of Mickey to tell you the rest of the story...
Yesterday morning, while I was making my way out of my parent’s home after my visit with them, Mickey, as usual, was standing near the grille to send me off. He melted my heart with those soulful eyes. He is so cuddly and adorable.
Yesterday, I popped by my parents place. Mickey was not in a good mood. He even refused the chicken that I offered him. It was unusual. One of the reasons of his moodiness could be because he was looking for my father. My father left home early yesterday morning to attend to some matters and when he left the house Mickey was not awake then. Mickey has won over our hearts. He is such a blessing to us.
Mickey has been nursing a sore, he is down with an infection. He is much toned down as he is not so free with the plastic head cover to prevent him from licking his wound. Poor Mickey.
Yesterday afternoon, I popped by my parent's place. After walking Mickey, he went home and ate a big lunch. He ate like there was no tomorrow. Not long after his lunch, he looked a little lethargic. The photos in this post were of Mickey resting under the coffee table. Recently, he was shaven down and he looked so adorable.
Last Friday, after my oral communication training session at a primary school in Victoria Street, I dropped by my parent's place. I did not get to walk Mickey as it was raining. When it was time to leave, as usual, Mickey would see me off at the gate. Mickey had a sad look on his face. He would be so happy if I could stay a little longer.
Mickey is so well loved by everyone in the family. He is an extremely smart dog. Yesterday, I went to visit my parents. As usual, Mickey was overjoyed to see me. As I sat on the floor near him, I noticed that from time to time his eyes was directed on his leash which was on a nearby shelf. All he wanted to do was to signal to me:” Please, please, please, please, please bring me for a walk!” He is simply irresistible.
Lately I have been having problem getting Mickey home whenever I bring him out for a walk. It happened again on Thursday, February 2I. As usual, I was walking Mickey at the surrounding area near Bukit Panjang Plaza. As I was trying to get him to go home, he just refused to budge. He stared right through me and for that moment I saw such defiance and stubbornness on his pudgy little face. If Mickey could speak, I believe he must be saying: “So what can you do to me if I do not want to move.” As I kept trying to cajole him, he absolutely refused to cooperate with me. Finally, I had to get help and I made an SOS call to Monte. In this post, you can see Mickey soaking in every moment near the taxi stand outside Bukit Panjang Plaza while we were waiting patiently for Monte to come. Mickey is out of this world.
