Awesome God

The sky gets more beautiful with each passing moment. All creation worship You. You are beautiful beyond description. Our limited vocabulary cannot fully describe Your awesomeness.

Monte and I were married on 20 March 1999. I have spent the best years of my life with Monte. God has blessed us beyond our wildest imagination.

God has graced us to walk through valleys and ravines. He has graced us through stormie seas. He sees us through treacherous terrains.

Our hearts are overwhelmed by God's love and faithfulness. We see His glory. We know His power. His mercies are new every morning. We live to taste His goodness. We live to see a glimpse of His glory.

We cannot thank the Lord enough for His goodness and grace. We call upon Him day and night. We serve a mighty God. Mighty to save. Mighty to heal. Mighty to deliver.

We look forward to days ahead of us with hope and optimism. The journey to the heart of God is filled with His love and power. We purposed in our hearts to seek the Lord. We follow hard after the lover of our soul.

Thank You, Lord

God is Actively at work in our broken lives. He is faithful and merciful. Our God is mighty. Our God is sovereign.

The Lord provided for Monte to make it to the Society of Pentecostal Studies conference in Kirkland, Washington. We are grateful that he can also visit our family and friends in Fresno, California.

We can never outgive the Lord. He reminds us daily that He is our sole supplier. He encourages and strengthens us daily. His mercies are new every morning.

When we were planning for this some months ahead, we prayed for God's miraculously provision. He is the prayer answering God. He meets our every need.

We thank family and friends for making this trip possible. Thank You for journeying with us. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for praying with us. Thank you for supporting us. Thank You for encouraging us. Thank you for sowing into our ministry. We would not be where we are today without each of your involvement. We are thankful.

Lord, we are eternally grateful to You, our Maker. Thank You for spurring us on when we do not know where we should go. We will follow You to the ends of the earth. Thank You for keeping the fire in us burning brighter and stronger. Thank You for putting eternity in our hearts.

"Friends, we’re now at Changi Airport for my eve flight to USA; will be back 24 March!

First I’m off to Seattle, Washington to attend this year’s annual meeting for the Society of Pentecostal Studies at Northwest University, where I will give a presentation from the final chapter of my book, thus titled, “’On the Altar, Catching Fire!’ Toward a Pentecostal Theology of the Altar.” Then 18-22 March I will be in Fresno, California to see my remaining family.

What I must stress here is—

Thank God for 100% gracing with this trip, through the generous support of several good friends who together through their respective roles—covered its total expense. Jee Fong and I thank God for the grace of sacrifice they have laboured towards for the cause of his kingdom.

Though for years we have steadfastly looked to the Lord for pathways past our experienced lack, still we forward move without regular income; often literally praying in what we need. The Lord is faithful. In him we trust, and entrust our life, for he entrusted us with the faith of our forefathers for cause of Pentecostal fires worldwide. The Word is Gift; most of whatever we have at this moment, has been freely given to us. I live in deep debt to many people.” So I often pray, “Help me Lord, pay it forward.”

What we’ve gained

Is the life of prayer, knowledge of God’s Word, and never-diminishing passion to discharge the priestly duty entrusted to me: to preach the Full Gospel of Pentecost, for discipling the church into the charismatic fullness of Christ for healing the world; hastening the soon coming of the Lord.

This year’s SPS theme is focused on Pentecostal worship theology. So besides my talk towards a Pentecostal theology of the altar event, I have been roped in to respond two other presentations brought together: one on insights from African Pentecostal worship experience towards Pentecostal theologizing, and the other on exploring Pentecostal approaches to “hybrid worship”. So I look forward to some highly fruitful engagements through these sessions.

In preparation, I am re-reading my book, Pentecostal Liturgical Theology: On the Altar, Willed to Pentecost, particularly of the course the last chapter on this Pentecostal theology of the altar. There I notice I raise the theme of thanksgiving, calling to mind the exhortation of Hebrews 13.15-16: 

“Let us continuously offer a sacrifice of praise to God,” and let us neglect to do good and share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

So in the book I wrote (pp. 190-191):

“For on the altar, worshippers have thus pivotally placed themselves within the flow of salvation history, becoming the fuel that forwards its movement . . . . 

in that healing empowering moment . . . these sacrifices become gifts for fuelling the gift-economy that flourishes God’s household and his saving mission for the world’s healing. 

As the Spirit-baptized temple, we thus discharge our priestly work (leitourgia) at invoking Holy Spirit outpouring on these offerings of thanksgiving to Christ our king, who commissions us for the saving mission of God.”

Our hearts find rest in You alone. You are our only hope. Hope that is anchored in Your love. Hope that does not disappoint. Hope so sure. Thank You for putting eternity in our hearts.

Glorious Lord

One evening, Monte and I were out at Changi Village. We strolled towards the nearby beach. This photo was taken when we were on the bridge that connects the Changi Village with the beach.

We beheld the glorious beauty of the Lord. Beauty beyond description. The God of heaven and earth unfolds His glory right before our eyes. Majestic and glorious is our God. We worship You almighty God!

We Look to You

As we look to You, our face is radiant. You poured in the oil and the wine. You satisfy our deepest longing. Shine Your glorious on us. Make us a people of power. Make us a people of praise.

As we look to You, our hearts are leaping with joy. Joy unspeakable. Exceeding great joy. Joy overflowing. Joy in the depth of our being. In the midst of great trails, joy prevails.

As we look to You, our hearts are overwhelmed. This journey with You is peppered with Your mercy and grace. You have blessed us beyond our wildest imagination. We see You high and lifted up. You are mighty God. Move powerfully upon our broken lives.

Help Us to End This Race Well

Help us to end this race well. Strengthen us by the power of Your Spirit. Spirit of the living God, fall afresh and anew on us. Touch our broken lives. Breathe upon us, breath of God. Consume us as we lay on Your altar. Sanctify us as we worship You.

Help us to end this race well. Flood our hearts with Your love. Love personified. Love crucified. Love divine. We taste the sweetness of Your love. How deep is Your love! How strong is Your love! How wide is Your love. How rich is Your love!

Help us to end this race well. Guide us to the very end. Grant us a vision of the cross. Help to persevere. Help us to take baby steps of faith daily. This journey is peppered with Your power and grace. We are eternally grateful for Your work in our lives. Move powerfully through our lives and ministries.

Glorious Lord

We live to see a glimpse of Your glory. Let Your glory fall. Manifest Your power and strength. Engulf us with Your glory. We stand amazed at Your wondrous work. You are mighty to save. Mighty to heal. Mighty to deliver.

We live to taste Your goodness. Nothing else matters. Your goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives. Your goodness overwhelms us daily. Taste and see that the Lord is good. We taste honey in the rock. We taste sweetness that words cannot express.

We live to see Your wonders. Miracle working God, work powerfully through each of us. We see miracles daily. We know Your power. We worship You. Sanctify us. Release us to move in Your anointing. Work powerfully through our lives and ministries.

God of Miracles

God of miracles, inspire our hearts to trust You in desolate wasteland. Lift us up. Lift us up to know Your abiding love. Inspire our hearts to hold on to Your promises.

God of miracles, touch our hearts. Open our eyes to see Your glory. Open our ears to hear Your voice. We walk in Your love. We follow hard after You. Pave our way. Guide us into Your plans and purposes.

God of miracles, move upon our hearts. Anoint and empower us as we step out in obedience to serve You. Anoint and empower us as we step into the water. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. We trust You with our final breath.

Blessed

Thankful

Thankful to breathe. Thankful for all You have done in our broken lives. Teach us to walk in Your ways. Teach us to number our days. In You we live and move and have our being.

Thankful to smell the flowers. Thank You for Your rich blessings. You surround us with Your love and presence. You lead us by the hand. Bring us to Your living streams. Bring us to Your high mountains. Show us Your glory and power.
