The following is a letter that Monte sent out recently:
"Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ worldwide
Through the Spirit of Jesus who proclaims the healing of God to all creation— greetings to you!
Very much due to your invested, supportive prayer and the generous giving of many of you worldwide, I have just purchased and booked my flight to the 2014 Society for Pentecostal Studies Meeting (6-8 March 2014), in Springfield, Missouri, USA. I thank each of you for again proving the power of Spirit-endowed prayer.
My specific role is to chair one of the Practical Theology Interest Group meetings. Secondly, I may be called upon to deliver another participant’s presentation in their absentia.
Evangel University in Springfield is hosting this year’s SPS meeting, because 2014 marks the centennial anniversary year for the Assemblies of God worldwide. The closing banquet will therefore commemorate the AG centennial. The conference theme itself is: “Hermeneutics And The Spirit: Identities, Communities, Identities, and the Making of Meaning.”
As mentioned in earlier correspondence, I actually had no plans to attend this year’s meeting. Yet when I was invited last September, I was encouraged to do my best to attend, because I would be decisively linking my local setting here in Singapore and Southeast Asia, to important conversations occurring amongst this international fellowship of ministry leaders and scholars, on current and emerging challenges facing global Pentecostalism.
For these reasons, I believe there is something God wants to impart to me through this historic event— and for the Spirit to impart to others worldwide, through my involvement at this conference.
In due time, I will update you on the outcomes of this trip God willing, and other related developments. Philippians 4:17-20.
May the God of peace grant in all your life and your family, fullness of health, and visions of coming harvests. May our Blessed Lord make all your labours for His kingdom fertile— as we call on Him for new outpourings of Holy Love in 2014.

At altars of new beginnings— let us tarry;
For all latter and former rains; for the upper and lower springs;
For from the Father’s right hand,
We receive power— and prophesy for the healing of all nations."
Monte and I are thankful for God's divine providence. When Monte accepted the invitation to chair one of the Practical Theology Interest Group meetings. He was also told that he may be called upon to deliver another participant’s presentation in their absentia. We started praying and believing God to perform a miracle. By early February, we have not raised enough funds to buy the air ticket. Meanwhile the cost kept climbing. In our hearts, we knew that this upcoming trip is God's opened door. We did not give up on believing God and we tarried in prayer. We learn to take baby steps of faith in depending on the Lord.
God is amazing, the funds came in in the eleventh hour. The Lord provided for the air tickets and other necessary expenses. We are simply speechless because we know that God has come through for us.
We are also greatly indebted to our family, friends and brothers and sisters-in-Christ here in Singapore as well as overseas who have given generously towards this trip. Many have also offered prayers. Our hearts are overwhelmed by each of you. Thank you for joining us in this amazing journey of faith. A journey marked by the grace and mercy of our dear Lord.
He stretches our faith to trust Him for things that are way beyond us; things that are seemingly impossible. We thank God for showing us that He is able to do above and beyond all we can imagine or ask for. We serve a living God; faithful, true and magnificent. All glory be to the Lord who reigns forevermore. Thank you, Lord!
